Nash Building Receives Grant Funds Following Fire
John Joyce, structural engineer from Engineering Solutions, Oklahoma City, inspects and analyzes the Nash Building on 4th and Quinn in Guymon. The building, which housed Pub on the Bricks and RopeMan on the first floor and office spaces on the second floor, burned May 22nd.
Main Street Guymon made an application to the National Trust for Historical Preservation for Intervention Funds. The Intervention Fund is a restricted pool of money that can be used to respond to emergency situations and critical needs to save endangered historic places. The application was approved and the Trust funds paid for bringing the engineer in to make a report on what needs to be done to save the Nash building.
Main Street Guymon Director Melyn Johnson visited with a Trust employee from Washington DC who attended the Preservation Conference, hosted by Main Street Guymon, last June. During that visit Johnson learned of the potential intervention funding. Assisting with the application was Hal Clark, owner of the building, and Charles White.
