The Souper Bowl
The Souper Bowl is a time to celebrate and come together, enjoying our friends and community and working together to benefit the Oaks of Mamre, a local homeless shelter.
“The Souper Bowl is about caring for those in need in our town,” says Todd Singleterry, Chairman of the Oaks Board of Directors. “Our mission is to serve the homeless of Texas County. To most of us this is a mission assigned by God. We are here to serve those who may not have food or shelter. Most of them come to the shelter with nothing more than the clothes they are wearing.
This is the third year to hold the Chili Dinner, the soup of choice. It takes place on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 5, from 11:30 to 1:30. It is a great place for your lunch on this very American day. It is a Chili Dinner with all the fixings.
“This idea started because most people spend more on snacks just for parties during the Super Bowl than the homeless have for meals,” explains Singleterry. A free will donation is taken at the door. It all takes place at the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church Family Enrichment Center, 6th and Quinn in Guymon.
